The Mountain Reset
5 days. Forest camps, village life, a Himalayan meadow hike, bonfire nights, and strangers who become friends.
Sample itinerary
Day by day
Day 1Arrive + icebreakers
You reach The Big Village at 2,400m in the afternoon. Your host settles you into a forest camp — canvas tents, wool blankets, a fire already lit. The evening is a slow one: introductions over chai, a short walk to the ridge as the light drops, and a bonfire dinner where you learn everyone's names.
Pickup from Rishikesh available. Village walk + bonfire dinner.
Day 2Forest trail
A full-day walk through oak and rhododendron forest. No fixed destination — your guide reads the morning light and picks the route. You stop at a waterfall, eat lunch on a boulder above the treeline, and return in golden hour. Tired legs, full chest.
~12 km. Mixed terrain. Packed lunch provided.
Day 3Village immersion
A slower day in the village. A local family opens their home — you watch dal and roti being made on a wood-fired chulha, sit in on a morning puja, and walk the terraced fields. Afternoon is free: read, draw, nap, talk to whoever you find.
No fixed schedule. Village family lunch included.
Day 4Himalayan meadow hike
The high day. A 4-hour climb to an open meadow above the treeline at ~3,200m — grass, silence, and a clear view of the snow wall. You stay for an hour at the top, eating whatever you've carried, before descending in time for a long dinner and the final bonfire.
~16 km round trip. +800m gain. Start 7 am.
Day 5Farewell
A slow morning. Breakfast stretched long, last cups of chai, addresses exchanged. Your transport back to Rishikesh leaves mid-morning. Most people end up planning a return before they've even left the valley.
Drop back to Rishikesh by early afternoon.
